3rd Hole  -  The Baby

The short uphill par three 3rd is in some ways less of a hole than way back in 1926 when it was clearly an outstanding par three as the picture in Bernard Darwin's famous book illustrates.

Once surrounded by four large bunkers to the left and right, front and rear, it was similar to short holes at Sunningdale or Walton Heath and with the addition of the hillside to the right and heather in the carry, it would have provided a visual feast to the discerning golfer.  

The dense hillside of rhododendrons to the right now provides the greatest challenge along with the sloping green.
