For the absolute beginner we have an Academy attached to the club where new members are able to play and be coached with other players of similar ability until such time as they feel confident enough to join the main Ladies Section.  Academy members will be given help and encouragement to obtain a handicap.  For the new member already in possession of a handicap integration into the club is made very easy with many competitions being arranged to suit all abilities.  To help us in this connection we have, within the course, the Conan Doyle Course which is a simpler version of the main course and eliminates, to a considerable degree, the carry from the tee on nine of the holes.  The Conan Doyle Course is still a very interesting course but enables a player, whatever their ability, to improve and gain confidence at their leisure.
