Fantastic 112th Nairn Open for CBGC
As in previous years a strong contingent of CBGC members entered for the 112th Nairn Open from 23rd -26th July. Nairn is a championship course on the Moray Firth in Scotland which has hosted both the Walker and Curtis Cups. The Competition begins with two rounds of medal play for the 156 entrants and the top 16 qualifiers in the three handicap groups then go through to a knockout tournament.
We had one of our best results this year with 3 qualifiers in the handicap sections from CBGC being Julian Weatherley, David Drew (4th best qualifier with net 148) and Andy Selfe.
In the consolation stableford event for all those that didn't qualify Ryan Braithwaite came second with a superb 42 Points.
In the low handicap section David Drew reached the semi final narrowly missing out on a place in the final on the 18th green.
To cap a great week there was a magnificent performance by Andy Selfe, playing 4 matches in two days, culminating in an incredible 7&5 victory in the final over a Nairn local playing off 7 handicap to win The Claverhouse Cup.
Many congratulations to Andy, Dave, Julian and all our members for doing CBGC proud.
