Friday Fours

Foursomes was the traditional form of the Golf in many old clubs and although generally less popular these days, a group of members still meet on Fridays to play Foursomes - though we now play Ryesomes and Greensomes on alternate weeks.

Usually between 12 and 20 golfers meet at around 08.00am (weather permitting) and we draw the fourballs at 08.15 promptly. The tee is booked from 08.15 to 09.00am.

Entry fee is £2 which pays for the prizes - a sleeve of good quality balls for each of the winners. Also, balls for 2nd, 3rd and best Back 9 and Front 9. Any excess funds subsidise our events during the year; the main events being the Uganda Bowls and the Yuletide Tankards when we usually get a field of some 30 players and enjoy a good lunch and distribute numerous prizes.

This year we have welcomed several new players to Friday Fours (including new members who can readily get to know other members) - the main attraction being that foursomes is quick. You can plan on having your lunch at one o'clock or earlier.
