Hole:

12th Hole - The Warren

414 yards  -  Par 4  -  S.I. 2

The 12th hole is unique at Crowborough as almost the only entirely flat hole from tee to green, with the exception of a severe area of deep cross rough at about 260 yards from the back tee. This depression, filled with deep heather and gorse, presents a problem for the longer striker as the cross rough must be avoided at all costs and in the summer the fast-running fairway will make it tricky to lay up too close.

The hole offers a reasonably intimidating drive with the fairway bounded by grass or heather rough, with mature woodland along the left-hand side and tall impenetrable gorse along the right. From the cross rough, there remains about 150 yards to the green which is relatively flat on the front half rising up a slope to the rear. All things considered, this is a very worthy Stroke Index 2.
