- Crowborough Common
The Wednesday Rabbits began over 30 years ago when a group of CBGC members who met at lunchtime on a Wednesday, formerly “early closing day in Crowborough”, decided to hold a stableford competition open to all on a “roll up” basis.
The tradition continues today and all CBGC members are eligible to participate, Gentlemen, Ladies and Juniors.
With an entry fee of £2, the competition is divided into 3 handicap divisions with prizes in each division along with prizes for the best front and back nine, and for a birdie on a par three or an eagle on a par five (or par four!).
Currently we have the first tee booked from 10:00 – 12:30, play is in threes and you can only enter on the day. There is no draw for playing partners, simply turn up and enter your name on the start sheet.
Twice a year we hold a Supper preceded by a team event when teams of three are drawn, with a player from each handicap division making up the team. The cost of the Supper is generally subsidised and is followed by a prize giving ceremony.
We hold two Qualifying Competitions per month throughout the Summer period for handicapping purposes, and our average turnout each week is 50 participants.
The Wednesday Rabbits are a friendly, welcoming group and we hope to see you on a Wednesday soon.
